Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead. So did his father before him, until he was gruesomely murdered by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father's mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay. When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn't expect anything outside of the ordinary: track, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, now stained red and dripping with blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian s

Waiting For You by Susane Colasanti

Image
Summary:  It's sophomore year, and Marisa is ready for a fresh start and, hopefully, her first real boyfriend. But after popular Derek asks her out, things get complicated. Not only do her parents unexpectedly separate, but Marisa has a fight with her best friend, and Derek?the love of her life?delivers a shocking disappointment. The only things keeping Marisa together are the podcasts from the anonymous DJ, who seems to totally understand Marisa. But she doesn't know who he is ... or maybe she does. Review: I really enjoyed this book. It had good elements of how friendship can really develop into love. Colasanti writing was precise on describing how two teenagers can fall in love. The whole story develops around Marisa. You can relate to Marisa as a teenager. I felt it during my whole teenage years. I wish I was 17 again and want to re-do high school. High school has its ups and downs but, there is always a boy to save the day. Even if he is nerdy and sort of cute jus

Fever (The Chemical Garden #2) Rhine and Gabriel have escaped the mansion, but danger is never far behind. Running away brings Rhine and Gabriel right into a trap, in the form of a twisted carnival whose ringmistress keeps watch over a menagerie of girls. Just as Rhine uncovers what plans await her, her fortune turns again. With Gabriel at her side, Rhine travels through an environment as grim as the one she left a year ago - surroundings that mirror her own feelings of fear and hopelessness. The two are determined to get to Manhattan, to relative safety with Rhine’s twin brother, Rowan. But the road there is long and perilous - and in a world where young women only live to age twenty and young men die at twenty-five, time is precious. Worse still, they can’t seem to elude Rhine’s father-in-law, Vaughn, who is determined to bring Rhine back to the mansion...by any means necessary. In the sequel to Lauren DeStefano’s harrowing Wither ,

Newly Updated Cover of Mara Dyer

Image
This is the newly updated cover for the Unbecoming of Mara Dyer which is an amazing book. So I would start putting this on your TBR lists or pre-order it! Summary: Mara Dyer doesn't believe life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. It can.                                                                                                                                                   She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her strangely unharmed. There is.                                                                                                        She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love. She's wrong.

Comment on this page 3. Tweet about the giveaway! Hurry and Enter. Summary: This beautifully crafted, eloquent novel transforms what at first seems a depressing topic (a teenager dying from leukemia) into a life-affirming, uplifting portrait of a young woman determined to live her life as fully as she can in the short time that she has left. As the heroine, 16-year-old Tessa, sets out to complete a list of things she yearns to experience before dying, her actions are genuine, her emotions raw and powerful. She's a character teens can relate to, though her situation is one most of us can't fathom. This novel brilliantly addresses the subject of death with love, anger, humor, and honesty, and, through the experiences of its brave heroine, relates a powerful messag

Here's a little sneak of Hades by Alexandra Adornetto, also check out my review :) “What have you done?” I croaked instead. “Where am I?” “There’s no need for alarm,” he replied. I wondered if he might be trying to reassure me, but he wasn’t able to pull it off and only ended up sounding condescending. I looked at him not even trying to conceal my skepticism. “Relax, Beth, you’re in no danger.” “What am I doing here, Jake?” It was more a demand than a question. “Isn’t that rather obvious? You’re here as my guest, Beth, and I’ve taken care of everything to ensure your stay is a pleasant one.” There was such an uncharacteristically expectant look on his face that for a moment I didn’t know how to reply. I looked at him wide- eyed. “Don’t worry, Beth, this place can be a lot of fun when you’re with the right people.” Comes out August 30!! Next week:)

Eve by Anna Carey (Eve Trilogy #1)

Image
Review: I just loved, loved, loved this book. It is such a great book that I had to read it. I found the book on Netgalley (Thank You) The plot sounded really interesting (it is a dystopian) Dystopian novels are one of my favorites because someday it will happen, we will never know. The first page is of a letter to Eve from her mother which was really sad and what is going on:( It is very informative of what was happening when her mother was with her before we are in the present! Based in Anna Carey's novel Eve, which its is set in 2032 after a horrible deadly virus that mostly all the parents have died leaving tons of orphans. The orphans are then led to Schools where they learn a fine education, and later for other things! Eve is one of the brightest from her school, top marks and everything, the prettiest. and inquisitive girls in her "School." The school really twist on what they think out men, they tell the girls that they only want sex and to reproduce. On her g

Angelfire (#1) by Courtney Allison Moulton

Image
Title: Angelfire (Angelfire #1) Author: C.A. Moulton Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books Publishing Date: February 15 th 2011 Length: 464 pages Genre: YA, fantasy, paranormal romance Review: I really LOVED this book, it had so much action, with all the fighting scenes. This awesome book was just awesome. I couldn't put it down! Oh Will was just a gentlemen with a sexy smile. I also have him Tuesdays and weekends (Mocha) hehe. I want my own Will. The beginning of the book starts off slow but nearing the first few chapters it gets intense. Ellie then meets the handsome Will, who hold many secrets about, her life that she never knew. He is there to help her along the way, he is her guardian. With these two, we can see lots of chemistry which was really well developed. Moulton uses Lucifer and Angels and God as a way of putting it in a great story with action, romance and much, much more! The ending was good also, it makes you want to read the next book in the series Wings of t

Buying Books/Shelf

Image
My bookshelf looks amazing. My mom tells me to stop buying books but I have 3 sections where I keep all the goodies when am not reading an e-book. I have more than my sister, which is a little embarrassing, but I dont really care. I still continue to go to the bookstore at least once a week. With going to the bookstore I have some resistance to buying specific books, I usually go on the days that the new books come out which is normally Tuesdays. If they dont have that book then I order it from the store- free shipping!  But as for the book shelf, I have yet to convince my mom to getting little ones for the wall, but its ok. I will be moving things around in the shelf at the end of August and September because so many great books are coming out, and I need to put them in there!! If your shelf looks like this, show me a pic! (this pic is not updated, but it has more books in there now)

Firelight by Sophie Jordan (#1)

Image
Review: This has to be one of my favorite reads. I read it later than I wanted to but I did complete it! Reading this, made my whole body ache for Will who was describe as ... I cant even say because I can imagine what he looks like. Jacinda being a Draki and Will (LOVE) as the hunter is a beautiful story told about first loves, and differences that they can be together despite what they are. But I do have a feeling that Cassian will also have a piece of Jacinda's heart in some parts of the book, even though she kinda hates him, but all he want to do is protect her.  The whole concept was really unique for this book which I did like due to its supernatural nature, with dragons etc. But this book was really well written, and I couldnt get enough of reading this great book. I didnt put it down! I just loved the entire book from start to end. I just love all of Jordan's characters, especially Jacinda and Will. I  cant wait until Vanish comes out and read more of these characte

Summary: ( goodreads ) Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn’t believe in fashion . . . she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit -- more sparkly, more fun, more wild -- the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood. When Cricket -- a gifted inventor -- steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.  I just loved Anna and the French Kiss, so now I get to look forward to the companion novel Lola and the Boy Next Door! Comes out September 29, 2011! Add it to your TBR lists, I hear it is really good!

10th Anniversary for Sloppy Firsts by Megan McCafferty

Image
I am glad that I read all of the Jessica Darling Series by Megan McCafferty. I am also happy to share with her the 10th anniversary of the first novel Sloppy Firsts which can relate to many teenagers going through school and first loves. Thanks to Megan for providing me an Interview about Sloppy Firsts:      Amanda:   Megan, did you put some of your own experiences during high school into Jessica Darling’s Sloppy Firsts? Megan: Jessica and I certainly have a lot in common. We both grew up in suburban New Jersey, ran track and cross country, developed hopeless crushes on boys who didn’t know we existed and—most significant—were devastated when our best friends moved away. The beauty of fiction taking the truth and mixing it with my imagination. By the time I finished the first draft of SLOPPY FIRSTS, the characters had all become their own people. And there wasn’t anything in the book that happened to me in the same exact way it happened to Jessica. Amanda:  Which character
