Armchair BEA: Blogging Q&A (Day 3)

Image
BLOGGING 101 Here are a few tips from one blogger to another! 1. BE YOURSELF! I recommend that you be honest when you are blogging and be comfortable with who you are. There was a time that I wanted to keep my identity away from the public, but I am glad I didn't because that person is not the real me. I connected with so many people who like the same thing I do and their blog succeeded. Tell your story !! 2. HAVE FUN! Be sure to not get caught up with trying to keep up with what other bloggers are doing on their blogs. Blogging to me is a hobby that I enjoy and at the same time becoming friends with bloggers around the world. Even join in Follow Fridays because you can write about your experiences about a certain topic. Don't stress out about not making a post in time and just have fun! 3. MEDIA Like yesterday's post, media is very important to becoming a blogger. I find that through Twitter you are able to become friends with the authors because they are ...

Armchair BEA: Social Media (Day 2)

Image
Social Media I use social media a lot as a blogger because it  means to connect with other bloggers, readers and friends across the globe. Currently I'm using Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and my blog as ways to help readers look for their next book. I post all my reviews on the internet on stores sites (Amazon, Chapters Indigo, and Goodreads. If you are starting off as a new blogger I recommend you for sure make connections with authors and publishers on Twitter etc. When I started blogging I didn't know what to do so I went to get help through social media and some other bloggers were able to help me get on my feet and even start giveaways! Check out my media outlets on the right!!

The special thing about Thunder Bay is that we have great scenery and yummy food! We are a great community who all know each other, or related. Persians are one of the most popular desserts in town (like a cinnamon roll with strawberry icing) Also great history! and the Sleeping Giant! Why do you loving reading and blogging? Armchair BEA: Author Interaction (Day 2)

Image
Let’s talk interacting with authors IRL (in real life) or online. This is your opportunity to talk about your favorite author readings that you have attended. Or, you can feature your favorite author fan moment (i.e., an author sent you a tweet or commented on your blog). Maybe you even want to share how your interactions have changed since becoming a blogger or share your own tips that you have learned along the way when interacting with authors as a blogger.  ~ I actually have not attended any of my favorite author reading. This is because not many authors come up to my area in Northern Canada. I have had favorite fan moments with my favorite authors like Jennifer L. Armentrout, Michelle Krys (who I know), Miranda Kenneally and many others. My interactions with them changed since I was becoming a blogger due to their awesome support in acknowledging bloggers who help them while they are writing and get input. I even call some of them my friend now. Being acknowled...

Armchair BEA Day 5: Keeping It Real/Young Adult Literature

Image
Keeping It Real How to draw an audience is to make sure you have reviews, follow weekly posts and blog tours and even giveaways help with gaining a following on your blog. When I first started out in the beginning it was a giveaway that I posted in Goodreads that really started to get me a following. Also you need to sign up for twitter and facebook as a way to connect with your readers and the authors and publishers. Thinking back, it was a lot of work to get to the point of where I am now but its totally worth it! Young Adult Literature The Top Books that should be on young peoples shelves are: 1. The Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout 2. The Covenant Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout (ALL of her books!!) 3. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas 4. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin 5. Pretty much all the authors I love I am an adult that does read YA, I always love to go to that section because I can really connect with the characters even thou...

Armchair BEA Day 4: Ethics & Non-Fiction

Image
Ethics There is a lot of issue regarding ethics. This is a heavy issue that continues to happen to a lot of bloggers is plagiarism and to ensure credit belongs to that person. To the new bloggers I recommend that you credit the person who you took information because if you don't the blogging community can attack with force and we are a tough community. The guidelines of bloggers that we should follow is to create our own pieces of work and reviews. I know that it is hard to create something, but since you are the one reading the book and reviewing it, you should show how much you love that book by using your own words.  I've been blogging for almost 3 years, you learn many things about it through others, but it is fun! Non- Fiction I know this is bad but I don't really read non-fiction. I would lead more to a biography or true crime if I was interested in that book but I have seen a few that I was interested in but I have not been able to purchase them yet....

Armchair BEA: Day 3- Giveaway + Literature

Image
GIVEAWAY!!! Today I will be giving away a copy of Reboot by Amy Tintera, as well as a copy of The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay a Rafflecopter giveaway Literature:  The literature that has changed my life would be The Sea of Tranquility as well as Hopeless, Slammed and anything by Jennifer L. Armentrout. These amazing authors have created these amazing books that will grab your attention from the beginning. Colleen Hoover is another favorite because she chooses topics that will impact you and also what you can relate to. This powerful message of hope and love is what makes me want to hug them.  Many of you can say that Judy Blume has changed their lives, but growing up I never read any of her novels (I know!!) I am glad that now fiction has New Adult because its starting to come alive and many people do go through this stage of their lives where they fall in love for the first time, having troubled times etc. Katja Millay did an incredible j...

Armchair BEA Day 2: Blogger Development

Image
Blogger Development I do think that I did branch out more as a blogger because of the community as well as joining more blog tours. As a blogger who started from nothing and figuring what to do, I think I did a great job reaching out to the community and as well as organize Stuck In YA Books. There are some days that I do get stressed out with the blog but I still try to have fun with providing giveaways and also talking to authors through twitter. I am not near any author events but, that would be another blogger dream I would love to take part in. Unforunately Thunder Bay is a small city with little local author events at the same time not many bloggers. The blogging community is another family because we all like the same things in novels and also in our daily lives. I hope to meet all you new bloggers as well. Blogging is hard work but it does pay off in the end.  We discover new authors, books and even bloggers go professional. Lots are great designers who can creat...

Armchair BEA Day 4: Beyond the Blog

Image
Beyond The Blog What I find most fun about blogging is the bloggers and authors! My blogging life really started to pick up after I finished reading Twilight because I never was a big reader before the series came into my world. In the fall beyond the blog I usually go to school and its hard balancing the blog and school but I do try to maintain it. I do enjoy the arrival of packages that come through the mail because once you open it a bunch of surprises come out that I could not wait to read! During the summer is more flexible because of no school, but then work interferes with the blogging because my spending habits are bad on books, which I need to improve on, because school in Ontario (university) is expensive! So I know I will be cutting back on book expenses soon, which is sad but it will benefit because I have tons of books to read. I also love being involved in blog tours to also connect with authors and bloggers. I enjoy blogging as much as the next person. I want ...
