Echols writing gives us insight into these teenagers’ lives and experiences through college.  In "Love Story" we see the ups and downs of writing literature from Erin and Hunters class of literature in New York.  When reading their stories they explain why they hated each other for the past 6 years since her mother died and why they like each other at the same time, and reflect true stories of their lives in the story.
