Summary (Goodreads)

#1 New York TimesUSA Today, and internationally bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout returns to the world of the Lux with The Burning Shadow, the steamy, shocking second installment of the Origin series that will leave readers reeling.

When Evelyn Dasher crossed paths with Luc, she was thrown headfirst into the world of the Lux―only to discover that she was already far more involved in their world than she ever suspected.

Because the Luxen aren’t the only ones with a hidden past. There’s a gap in Evie’s memory, lost months of her life and a lingering sense that something happened, something she can’t remember and nobody is willing to tell her. She needs to find out the truth about who she is―and who she was. But every answer she finds only brings up more questions.

Her search for the truth brings her ever closer to Luc, the Origin at the center of it all. He’s powerful, arrogant, inhumanly beautiful, extremely dangerous…and possibly in love with her. But even as Evie falls for him, she can’t help but wonder if his attraction is to her, or to the memory of a girl who no longer exists.

And all the while, a new threat looms: reports of a flu-like, fatal virus that the government insists is being spread by Luxen. A horrifying illness that changes whoever it touches, spreading panic across a country already at its breaking point.

Review:

Holy Macaroni!! What have you done to me Jen that has caused me tears, heartache and wishing there were more pages than the already 600+ pages! Many people know that I'm a huge JLA fan and I know for a fact that every book that she has written has never disappointed me. The Burning Shadow has that same feeling. Now I'm just still in a state of shock after that ending.

Evelyn (Evie) and Luc are back and now she is thrown into the Lux world only that she knows that she is more involved than she ever thought. Her memory is still in gaps, but she is determined more than ever to find the truth. This second instalment in the series is one book you won't be able to put down with the plot-twists, action-packed and intense chemistry between Luc and Evie!! Armentrout's writing is addicting and shines through-out the entire book which is one of Jen's ways to get the reader hooked is her ability to write relatable characters. Plus the romance was swoon!!! Evie also along the way was finding her identity and the many things that happen when you are a teen.

If you haven't picked up The Darkest Star or the Lux series, I recommend you go read them before you start this series. Jen is the queen of cliffhangers with second books and she definitely left me hanging with this one! Go get this book immediately as you will be addicted to the entire series. Thank you Jen for a copy for review! I'm already anxiously waiting to finding out what is going to happen next in the series!
