Review:
From Blood and Ash is a fantastic fantasy that will hook you immediately from the very first page! I loved every single moment and all of the characters are ones you will fall in love with! Jennifer L. Armentrout has done it again with her amazing writing skills and lots of detail! Get this book immediately!!! Thank you Jen for letting me review From Blood and Ash! I think this is one of my new top favourite books of yours. As many of you know I have been a huge fan of Jen's and she is also a great friend. I'm already looking forward to the other JLAnders and the world to read this book because they are going to fall in love with the entire world you have created as well as Hawke.
I really enjoyed Poppy's character. She has so much on her shoulders as she has the entire kingdom depends on her as the Maiden. The entire novel was amazing. I literally feel like after reading, From Blood and Ash I have no words except amazing. Every word written is able to capture every reader immediately into this fantasy world she has created. This one is definitely high up their as a favourite especially after a certain scene! If you love high fantasy, you will love this book. We also get to know the history, magic and romance all wrapped into one journey. The scenes between Hawke and Poppy is definitely complex right from the start of the book and you see them both grow as characters throughout the entire book. I found Hawke to be a very deep character who has many sides to him where Poppy is strong and she knows what she wants.
Jen you have created a masterpiece with this one! I knew right away in 2011 when Half-Blood came out that you were going to be one of my all time favourite authors and friend. Thank you so much. From Blood and Ash was a phenomenal read and its going to possible make people throw their book/e-reader through the window by the end but its totally worth it. Such an amazing fantasy full of action, danger, mystery and a swoony romance. I already need the next book!! Fantasy readers need to pick this one up right away!

Summary:
A Maiden…
Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.
A Duty…
The entire kingdom’s future rests on Poppy’s shoulders, something she’s not even quite sure she wants for herself. Because a Maiden has a heart. And a soul. And longing. And when Hawke, a golden-eyed guard honor bound to ensure her Ascension, enters her life, destiny and duty become tangled with desire and need. He incites her anger, makes her question everything she believes in, and tempts her with the forbidden.
A Kingdom…
Forsaken by the gods and feared by mortals, a fallen kingdom is rising once more, determined to take back what they believe is theirs through violence and vengeance. And as the shadow of those cursed draws closer, the line between what is forbidden and what is right becomes blurred. Poppy is not only on the verge of losing her heart and being found unworthy by the gods, but also her life when every blood-soaked thread that holds her world together begins to unravel.
