Summary: (Goodreads)
The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane. Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable.
Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, she can’t stay away from him. Still, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in. Captivated. Lured. Loved.
Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence...and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself.

I really loved this prequel to Obsidian. Jennifer L. Armentrout had me happy, and crying all at once in this story about Dawson and Bethany. I loved seeing this because getting to know why Daemon was so cold in the beginning of the story. Like any other Jennifer L. Armentrout because it gave us a different views from different characters. I loved the writing and characters and it is addicting writing! This is one of my favorite series as well as Jennifer's other series.
The drama in this one was WOW!! Seeing Dawson and getting to know him gave me a different perspective of Daemon and DeeDee. The wirlwind of my emotions where everywhere and I was starting to love Dawson because of his sweet personality. I loved his point of view and his relationship with Bethany. It was a great storyline and seeing how the Arum operated was that they are cruel things and I understood Daemons reasoning to keep his siblings safe. His love for Bethany was out of this world adorable; he would do anything for her and she feels the same way.
Bethany was a very strong character and she is similar to Katy in a few ways: They both fall in love with hot aliens, loves to go against some of the rules and also tries to get along with Dawsons family and friends. I cried near the ending because of the outcome of this couple. I did know it was coming but it still happened. Jennifer has a way with words because she gets me all emotional with some of her novels this one included. If you loved Obsidian, be sure to pick up this one right away !!

I've been meaning to read this for forever (I bought it when it first came out) and even though I know it will be amazing, I still had to read your review just to hear more about it! I'm glad that Shadows came out because I'm really curious about Dawson and Bethany :)
