Pixie Marshall wishes every day she could turn back time and fix the past. But she can't. And the damage is done. She's hoping that a summer of free room and board working with her aunt at the Willow Inn will help her forget. Except there's a problem: the resident handyman is none other than Levi Andrews. The handsome quarterback was once her friend-and maybe more-until everything changed in a life-shattering instant. She was hoping to avoid him, possibly forever. Now he's right down the hall and stirring up feelings Pixie thought she'd long buried . . .
Levi can't believe he's living with the one person who holds all his painful memories. More than anything he wants to make things right, but a simple "sorry" won't suffice-not when the tragedy that scarred them was his fault. Levi knows Pixie's better off without him, but every part of him screams to touch her, protect her, wrap her in his arms, and kiss away the pain. Yet even though she's so close, Pixie's heart seems more unreachable than ever. Seeing those stunning green eyes again has made one thing perfectly clear-he can't live without her.
Review:
This has to be one of my favorite new adult books! Chelsea Fine's writing was flawless. My emotions were everywhere while reading it. I was either laughing out loud at the stuff Pixie was doing that it broke up the sadness and heartbreak between it. Best Kind of Broken will make you fall in love with the characters and the true meaning of love!
Pixie doesn't have a place to go for the summer, so she go to her aunt's inn for room and board, where she will work before heading back to school. What she doesn't expect is to see Levi. It has been almost a year since the terrible accident that happened to them and they haven't talked about it. They are so torn about it that they want to run away from the past. They are both broken. I had not expected to love this book as much as I did because Pixie and Levi, both have great voices in the book. Levis has to be one of the sweetest male leads ever and has officially joined by book boyfriend lists because he felt real and genuine towards everything that happened. The romance is for sure there and was boiling from the start! Levi and Pixie have so much tension, I was rooting for them from the start!
Told in alternating POV's it was great to get inside their heads because you get to see why they aren't speaking to each other. It is revealed slowly with little flashbacks to their childhood which is really adorable since you can feel their strong connection. Some tears were shed when I reached that point in the book. I loved the secondary characters as well, for example Zack, he was funny, and you can see that he added that extra humor in the book!
Overall, everyone must pick up this book! Best Kind of Broken was beautiful and emotional. I loved Levi and Pixie's relationship because it felt real. Chelsea Fine is one author to look out for because she knows how to hook you in with the story! I can't wait to read the next book in this series!!
