Unearthly By Cynthia Hand

Title:Unearthly (#1)
Author: Cynthia Hand
Publisher: HarperTeen
Pages: 435

Summary (Goodreads)

In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . .
Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy.
Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.
As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?
Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart.

Review:
I just finished Unearthly by Cynthia Hand. It was absolutely amazing, and I loved every minute of reading the novel. It captures both realities of living in the same world as angels. Hand wrote it beautifully as she describes her characters and the setting with delicate technique. The plot was really well written and really intertwined when Clara was telling her story of her purpose being a angel-blood. The concept of Angels was beautifully blended in and it is one of my new favorite books.

The whole story is around Clara who is an angel blood, her mother and brother are also angels. The beginning of the story tells us they live in California and are moving to Wyoming, for the purpose of Clara who is having re-occurring visions of a boy and a forest fire. We learn after they move that the boys name is Christian and she tries to make friends with him and this school. Clara is described as blond and beautiful, but to take away her beauty her mother dyes her hair reddish/orange. So everybody in the school make her as normal as possible. We then meet Tucker, who is also gorgeous in a cowboy way with his boy eyes and stare, who later finds out what Clara is. Overall the book goes through her first year at the school, and into the summer. Christian goes away to New York, her friend Wendy also Tucker's twin sister goes away for school things, and her friend Angela goes to Italy.

The end of the novel really picks up when we go to the purpose of why Clara is there to save Christian but then a twist is in place because of course there has to be some evil in the stories. We meet a Black Angel Wing and he wants Clara and her mother. When you read it you will understand what is going on. I won't explain everything but by the end it will leave you hanging. Overall I would recommend this book for any supernaturally lover and who is interest in angels will LOVE this book. I personally will read this again in the near future. I hear there will also be a sequel. I will tell everyone if there is! Cynthia Hand is a wonderful author and I cant wait until future books to come!
