Review:

This book was a very good read! I was really interested in the plot when I first heard of the book. Amanda Hocking's writing is very well done and put together. She has done an amazing job for being a self-published author!! The entire plot was really good because it had Wendy trying to find herself. From the beginning of reading this Wendy is a very interesting character. I found her strong, a little dependent on her brother Matt and later Finn (who sounds very HOT) But as she finds herself later on, we see her stand up for herself and making friends in this new community that is really her home.

Switched had a very interesting storyline because it was different than any other supernatural book. It does not have vampire or werewolves (even if I do love them) but it was a good change because this world was great to know. The structure of the world was beautifully written and you can imagine what Hocking is describing in the world she has created for her characters.

The beginning was a little slow because of the introductions and the fact that her mother hates her and we know the reason because Wendy is not her daughter. This part was interesting because she didnt fit in this family. The only people in her family who is her brother Matt and her aunt. As the story progressed we met Finn. As Finn is looking at Wendy they go to a dance and he hurts her feelings. We then find out that Wendy is not from this family but comes from a royal line of Tyrlle. Finn is her love interest and he is in a way perfect because he would do anything for her, and serve to protect the crown. But I did like his jealous side! Finn was a very interesting character but his connection with Wendy is unbreakable because he liked her and got to know her. I also liked Rhys because he went through the same thing where he grew up + we get to see him grow as a supporting character. I dont like Elora because she is obnoxious and rude to Wendy but I guess it is expected.

The ending had so much action that I was reading through the pages and had to find out what was happening!! It is definitely one book to pick up because the characters are written like you know them. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series Torn and Ascend!! Be sure to look out for this book!!

  2. What first attracted me to this book was not so much the book summary (although it does sound good) but actually the author's story of being an extremely successful self-published author! I bought the book two months ago and still have yet to read it, but I'm hoping to get to it soon. I'm excited for a change from my usual vamps/werewolves/ghosts paranormal reads. It's good to know that the beginning is a bit slow, but then it picks up in the end. I'm excited to read it, especially because so many people like yourself have found it to be a really great series!
