Half-Blood (Covenant #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Review:

I think I found my new favorite series, with this book, Half-Blood, as you may know, I have been promoting through the blog. The cover is beautiful, and with the flower it does represent an item in the book.  I recommend that readers read Daimon before reading Half-Blood, because it gives a great background in why she runs away from her life with her mother in the mortal world.

When reading this on the Adobe Digital Reader/Iphone, which was a little annoying (wished for an ARC), but it was totally worth it because this book was AWESOME/Great. I could probably physically hug this book if I actually did that a copy in my hands.

From beginning to end you fall in love with her characters, Alex and even hot delicious Aiden, who is her knight in shining armor. Following Alex's life through Half-Blood. It deals with Greek Gods and many creatures that it is way different than any other book I have read to far!

Alex, the main character, is strong and not afraid to stand up for herself. Her mother has died and she is trying to figure out how to survive. You find yourself cheering for her to become a Sentinel, despite the inequality between half and pure bloods. I also fell in love with the supporting character specifically Aiden St. Delphi (I have another book crush). Armentrout strikes the perfect balance of action and romance. She also leads us another leading man which I hope to see in her upcoming second book Pure, Seth who is an Apollyon. Her descriptions were amazing, and I even pictured the characters in my head, with the text. It was like I was in a different reality with her characters!

Aiden is super hot. His pure blood status keeps him off limits to Alex but that doesn’t mean she isn’t looking. He is strong, mysterious, wounded, and determined to help her. She helps him become more relaxed, and try to have more fun, their banter through some sections were really funny. I love his fierce patience with her and his quiet manner. Caleb is the biggest supporting character and he is a best friend to Alex. At first I thought he was a love interest but it became clear quickly that he is just a very supportive friend, who helps her through her journey. Seth comes into the story mid-book and is quite the mystery man. There is so much about him that we don’t know yet but we will probably more in her upcoming novels about his personality. He is the Apollyon, a half-blood who controls all four elements and more. An incredible fighter, he is a daimons worst nightmare but he has been called back from fighting. He’s as interested as anyone why that is the case. There certainly is some strange connection between Alex and him and I love how he gets under Alex’s skin. I’m sure there’s a lot more to come from Seth. I also loved Aidens brother Deacon, he was also an interesting character:P

My favorite Chapter has to be #16- best chapter EVER,  I look forward to her relationship with Aiden, hope it moves further!

While the ending isn’t a cliffhanger, but things are far from settled. Can’t wait for the next book. The problem with reading books before they actually come out is having to wait even longer for the next one. The whole read was really great, this is the book to read, Its one of my favorites. I also hope all of you will soon read this because you will love it! You will not be disappointed when you read it!

The Novel comes out on October 18, 2011

Cant wait until PURE !!!!

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi—pure-bloods—have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals—well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.

Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:

Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.

Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.
