A Touch Mortal by Leah Clifford

Eden didn't expect Az.
Not his saunter down the beach toward her. Not his unbelievable pick-up line. Not the instant, undeniable connection. And not his wings.
Yeah.
So long, happily-ever-after.
Now trapped between life and death, cursed to spread chaos with her every touch, Eden could be the key in the eternal struggle between heaven and hell. All because she gave her heart to one of the Fallen, an angel cast out of heaven.
She may lose everything she ever had. She may be betrayed by those she loves most. But Eden will not be a pawn in anyone else's game. Her heart is her own.
And that's only the beginning of the end.

Review

A Touch Mortal was a really well put together book, and I loved every second of reading it on KOBO. Leah Clifford's debut novel was excellent, with the story lines and even with each character. The story was mostly told form Eden's point of view, but we get a glimpse from the minds of Gabriel and Az, which I liked.

What draw me to this book was the praise, I heard about it from other bloggers, plus her vlogs. I loved the ideas of fallen angels, and all the supernatural being, that exist in her novel. I can tell you this I read this book in two days! I read it at home, my cousins confirmation dinner, all over the place. I was so caught up with this novel, that I had to see what happened next with all the scenes that were playing out.

I loved each character, Eden is self sufficient and that her story line really comes together at the end, and she is finally able to recognize her power and how strong she can be. Her love for Az in the beginning is so cute, I was even falling for him because he sounds so perfect. Every dream boy!  She is a sider (READ BOOK)  and she dies mysteriously, but once you read it you will find out.. Big shocker! A sider is when teenagers who've fallen down the same dark path as Eden, ultimately killing themselves and winding up in a torturous ever-after of immortality in which they have to rely on touch as a way to live. I thought is was a really cool concept and that she is able to live off touch of mortals in order to live immortal.

Az is part angel/ fallen, his character is the most interesting because he fell out of heaven because he is not allowed to fall in love. But his character is my favorite because he has a funny way of picking up girls on the beach. He saves Eden in my opinion because he helps her figure out who she is, and even if he did not want to do it, Eden still becomes a sider because she had no clear path. So he faked his death in order to help her, but was hated by her once she turned. He has fallen in love with a lot of girls, but not as he is deeply in love with Eden, and the relationship really starts at the beginning of the novel.

Gabriel is one of the "good" angels and he help Az because he doesnt want him to fall to the dark side. His character is a little more complex because he keeps a lot to himself, he doesnt want to get in trouble with the big guy upstairs. But Gabriel doesnt tell them that there are siders on earth. He is not able to lie, which is very hard for his character, but he reveals A LOT at the end, I was in total shock at what happened to his character

Luke as the bad guy was really good, and also had intense scenes right at the end which was a good vs bad. He is always bothering Az with his love life. He is part of a band, and is one of the fallen.

From the start of the book to the end, I was in shock a little at the events that happened/occurred. I really cant wait until the next book A Touch Morbid, which unfortunately comes out in February, and I cant wait to see what happens next with these characters. Go watch her Vlogs because on July 11, she will be revealing some of her next book, and some other items. Keep a look out for this author because I expect great things to come in this trilogy!!

Cover: I thought the cover was really well put together, and it really represents Eden, because she does change her hair in the novel. It is also very pretty!!

  3. I liked the cover of a Touch Mortal. I love the cover of A Touch Morbid. I love that bright green in her hair! As for the book, I still haven't read it. I started to at one point, and I just couldn't get past the first couple of chapters. I don't know why. And since my failed attempt I have kicked myself for not pushing through, because I have read some seriously great reviews. And now, another. Thanks for the review. I am heading to the library tomorrow to try again!
