For months part-angel Clara Gardner trained to face the raging forest fire from her visions and rescue the alluring and mysterious Christian Prescott from the blaze. But nothing could prepare her for the fateful decisions she would be forced to make that day, or the startling revelation that her purpose—the task she was put on earth to accomplish—is not as straightforward as she thought. Now, torn between her increasingly complicated feelings for Christian and her love for her boyfriend, Tucker, Clara struggles to make sense of what she was supposed to do the day of the fire. And, as she is drawn further into the world of part angels and the growing conflict between White Wings and Black Wings, Clara learns of the terrifying new reality that she must face: Someone close to her will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning.

Review:
I absolutely loved this book I was like OMG when I got the email to be able to read Hallowed!! Both Unearthly and Hallowed blew my mind away, I devoured this book in 2 days!! Hallowed had action, romance and and soo much information that explains much more about Clara, her brother Jeffery and even more about her mother. In this brand new sequel to Unearthly, Cynthia Hand delivers what her readers have been waiting for, and I was not disappointed. I loved it. Clara has really grown since the last novel. With best friend's Wendy & Angela, and of course Tucker and her other love interest Christian. Christian really grew on me in this book!
Cynthia Hand made my emotions go all over the place, even more surprises are introduced as as was crying during some parts. Hallowed introduced more characters than in Unearthly through communities in the town. Christian really comes out in this novel, I was starting to like him in the first book, but he really will grow on you in Hallowed.Tucker still steals my heart away, but the storyline and love triangle was brilliant. Learning more about Clara's lineage and her mother's secrets was the main topic, but it was a good thing as we got to know more about Clara. I sometimes felt like crying during some of the scenes (tear). There are so many revelations in book that some things will shock you, but it does give you the sense that the next book will be great.
The novel does pick up right where Unearthly left us, after the fire. It may have gone slowly, but it was so full of information that will be important in the next book. For all those people who love Tucker or Christian.... I had a tough choice of who I want her to be with. I will have to wait until upcoming novel to find out what will happen next. Clara and Christian have an undeniable connection that Tucker cannot break, and Clara is still in love with Tucker <3 but once you read this you will understand how I feel (always had a soft spot for Christian)
What I liked most after reading Hallowed is that the romance was perfect and it always leaves me hanging. Hallowed is one of my favorite series, especially that I love the idea of Angels and Clara's dad which I loved really surprised me and her mother really is an important figure for Clara when she was growing up, but we do learn that half-Angel also do pass away; they also help God in their next life. Cynthia gives me a new perspective of what Clara does go through with her family and also her friends. Her brother Jeffery was shown a little more; is also shown that he is causing trouble with his mood swings, and in the end what he has done to represent his vision.
Overall- ONE AWESOME BOOK. Read Unearthly and then Hallowed because this book is worth the read and wait. Can't wait until the next one:) BTW follow Cynthia Hand on Twitter because she is soo awesome:) Its one book you cant put down !! Be sure to pick this book up at the nearest bookstore on January 17!!

As many of you know I am representing Clara in the Heroine Tournament. Her first competitor is against Rose from Vampire Academy on December 12, 2012. If you are a big fan of Clara and of Cynthia Hands series! Please vote Clara #TeamClara

I can not wait for this book to come out! I LOVED Unearthly. I am so glad to see that the second book does not disappiont either!!
ReplyDeleteThe overall story was completely new. I just found myself turning the pages, thinking I knew what would happen next but always being surprsied, then wondering what I would do in the same situation. It constantly broke my expectations, which I loved. And the sudden revelation near the end? Okay.
