For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in the palace and compete for the heart of the gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself- and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

Review:

When reading The Selection by Kiera Cass I was crying, laughing and really enjoying the characters in the book! It was very well put together by the plot in the beginning of the trilogy. America Singer the main character goes through major changes through the novel and befriends Prince Maxon when she is chosen in The Selection (like the bachelor). I devoured this book like no tomorrow!!! It was addicting and full of action and romance that anyone who reads it will want the next book.

The men in the novel were HOT, I instantly fell in love with Aspen in the beginning but it was later in heartbreak during that one scene. Maxon is handsome, a prince, a sense of humor, I man who you can fall in love with. I think he is very smart and controlled. He has a good connection with America the first time they meet because it is a good one when you meet a Prince for the first time. The Secondary characters the other 34 girls were all in a way competitive like any nature show but I hated Celeste! She was one of those characters you will hate the instant you meet her so I hope she doesn't end.

The Selection was written really well. America's distaste for the Selection was interesting and once she started to connect with Maxon I started to like him! It was a twist of emotions. I thought this book was very well put together with its romance and how Kiera Cass connected the Bachelor into her story.. but this is better than the bachelor because it has romance and some action with the rebellions. I really thought the setting as well was interesting with the rebels and the crown.. what are they looking for!! I am excited for the next book to see what will happen next in this series! This is a book that has made impact and was also optioned in the CW. Be sure to pick it up!!

  1. This is one book that I've seen quite a few good reviews on, but I'm just not that interested in. I'm happy to see people are liking this book despite everything that happened. This one doesn't seem up my alley sadly. Great review!

  2. I definitely liked this one a lot!!! It was so fun and so cute. It's definitely NOT dystopian as we know it, it's more just like a futuristic colony in America LOL!!! But still, I loved the concept and I'm really really excited for the next one!!

  5. I loved Maxon! He was so honest and caring. I was less impressed with Aspen because I thought he was kind of selfish. But I will admit the scenes with him were hot! Great review!
